Class 10

Class 10 Update - June 2018

Class 10 have been taking advantage of the good weather to work and play outside. We have been trying out sensory work outside in our playground. We also have been keeping our garden area in good condition by watering our fruit, vegetables and flowers. Class 10 has had the chance to try out some of the foods that we grew. Some of the things we ate included peas, carrots, lettuce and parsley. We had two prize winners at Prize Day!! One child received an award for Developing Independence in recognition of his hard work in the class garden area and another received an award for Music because of his progress and engagement with the Music Therapy sessions this year. Class 10 are all looking forward to their summer break after all the hard work they have completed this year.

Class 10 Update - April 2018

Class 10 have been getting fingers with their new topic work revolving around conservation. Our group have been brightening up the playground with their work. We have planted plugs, bulbs and seeds to grow a variety of herbs, vegetables, fruits and flowers, and recycled an old sand tray into a planter. Owen and Declan filled it up with compost; with an area for vegetables/fruits, flowers and a space for growing seeds in pots. We have already managed to get seeds to germinate and grow into small plants, these have included herbs and sunflowers. Ethan and Sophia have had a keen eye on measuring pots with compost and adding seeds. The whole group are involved with planting and maintaining this outdoor work area. We hope as the weather gets warmer we will see our plants and seeds grow quickly.

Class 10 June 2016 Update

What a fab month we have had in Class 10. I hope that you are as proud of your children as I am, and enjoyed reading their successes in their end of year reports. They are all superstars!!!

We all had an amazing trip to White Park Bay. The behaviour and manners of all the children were exceptional; you really can take them anywhere and they always represent the school well.

With trips to the cinema, Visit from the ice cream van, Friar Tucks and Solitude Park we have been kept busy.

I have had a great Term 3 in Class 10, the children are amazing and are a credit to their parents. I am going to miss the pupils who are moving on to Class 11 but look forward to working with the new boys coming from Class 9.

Class 10 April 2016 Update

It is lovely to be back in class 10. All of the children and staff have made me feel very welcome.

The big news in class 10 this month is that we have a new pupil called Richard, he has settled well into Donard School life and is enjoying meeting new friends.

We have been studying the topic ‘Volcanoes’ this month. Class 10 enjoyed researching facts about volcanoes and had great fun completing messy experiments.

We have some great events arranged, bowling at Sheepbridge to celebrate completing ‘The Big Work Challenge’, a hip hop dance-a-thon to raise funds for Paula McCann going to work in a special needs school in Uganda and then fishing with Miss Campbell. We also celebrate Jenny’s birthday.

We went on a road safety walk around town and identified different road signage and what they mean.

Class 10 May 2016 Update

What a busy month!!! Class 10 had many successes at the inter-schools swimming gala, all being placed 1st- 4th in their races. Well done to all involved!!!!

Our highlight of the month was our trip to the Ulster Museum to see the Egyptian exhibition. Class 10 were able to relate what they had learnt previously to the information given during this visit. We loved seeing Takabuti the Egyptian mummy.

We also enjoyed our morning of culture watching the Ulster Orchestra in concert. Some of Class 10 are conductors in the making!!!!
